A 5 kW residential solar power system can generate 5,000 watts of electricity, which is typically enough to meet the electricity needs of a household using 3,000 to 4,000 kWh per year. However, the actual energy generated amount varies based on your energy consumption and sunlight exposure. Solar panels produce more energy on sunny days than on cloudy ones.
Every 1 kW of rooftop solar power system generally requires about 90 to 100 sq. ft. of shadow-free rooftop space.
